Amtrak temporarily suspended service between Philadelphia and New York on Sunday amid freezing temperatures in the region.
Amtrak is warning that customers traveling along the Northeast Corridor will still experience delays after all service between Philadelphia and New York City was snarled due to downed overhead wires. In a 1:30 p.m. update, Amtrak said its personnel have “restored two of the four tracks to regular service.”
The current tracking conditions have allowed for “train movement” with the trains operating at “reduced speeds,” according to the update. Amtrak warned that customers can expect delays between 30 to 60 minutes.
Trains were halted between the two cities due to downed overhead wires, Amtrak said in a statement. The service was not expected to resume until noon, according to an update early Sunday morning.
