Two people were killed and two police officers were injured in a shooting at a supermarket in Indiana on Monday evening, local police say.
Police received a call at 5:30 p.m. about the shooting at Martin’s Supermarket in the 500 block of East Jackson Boulevard in the city of Elkhart, about 15 miles east of South Bend.
Officers arrived at the scene and found two victims dead inside.
“Both of these individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene,” Elkhart Police said in a news release.
Police said officers engaged the suspect outside the store and two officers were shot. In the exchange of gunfire, the suspect was shot and killed.
