As part of its investigation into alleged corruption in Oakland, the FBI has been demanding records from the city about contracts, business dealings, and City Hall communications.
Many of these records — evidence the government is sifting through — have slowly been made public through requests from reporters, including The Oaklandside.
On Tuesday, the city dumped thousands more pages of calendars, emails, letters, and other documents into the public record. We’ve been poring over them since they were released.
The records reveal eye-popping information about some of the people and companies at the center of the FBI’s probe.
We’ll continue reporting on these records and the ongoing criminal case. In the meantime, there are plenty of initial revelations to pluck out from this info dump. They help connect dots between Thao, her partner Andre Jones, California Waste Solutions and the Duong family that owns the recycling company, businessman Mario Juarez, and his homeless housing venture with the Duongs.
